John Smith

John Smith was born in 1580. He lived in a small town in Lincolnshire, England. He wanted to sail the sea. When he was twenty-one, he became a solider. During the war, he was sold as a slave. One afternoon, he killed his owner then ran away back to England. He began sailing for England because England wanted more money. Smith sailed to Jamestown. Here Pocahontas saved his life when he was captured. Smith became a leader in Jamestown; he put people to work to fix Jamestown. One day, gunpowder fell on his leg with a small spark and burned his leg badly. He was sent to England to get better. Soon he became ill and died. Smith is known as a great leader, who helped to rebuild Jamestown and exploring.
