Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. King had one brother named Alfred and one sister named Willie. As a child King played baseball, football, and basketball. He also liked to ride his bike and sing. King started college when he was only fifteen. After college King got married to Coretta Scott. Then he became a pastor. One time when King was at a meeting someone through a bomb in his house. In 1963 King led a march in Washington D.C. More than two hundred thousand people came. His speech was called the I have a Dream Speech. In 1964 King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. On April 14, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee King was assassinated. King was known for bringing blacks and whites together. Martin Luther King Jr. was a great man. |
