The settlers of the Massachusetts Bay Colony came from England. It was founded in 1620 by Puritan and Separatists led by John Endecott. It was settled for religious reasons so that the settlers could practice their own religion. The colony was located in the Appalachian Highlands near Boston Harbor. The settlers heard about the new world and wanted to go there themselves. The colony started because the colonists disagreed with the Church of England. They did not want to separate from it, but purify it. That is why the colonists were called Puritans. The Massachusetts colonists left so they could make money and live by their Christian ideas. |
