Billhook, pincers, bow saws, and saws are all examples of tools used in the Middle Ages for farming. Yes, they may sound like weapons and, yes, they may use them as weapons, but their main function is farming. The farmers in the Middle Ages use one main system that makes the city have a gigantic population. That system is the three field system. It rotates seasonally like a super giant conveyer belt. The winter crops grow on one field and while that's happening one of the other fields are being planted with spring crops because one field is always left unplanted to keep from over planting and over usage of soil. The farmers take care of their fields by plowing the fields and cutting the tall hay with scythes and giving it to the animals, cows and oxes. The farmers also harvest grain and stack them into sheaves of grain. Then they take the sheaves of grain to the windmill, where they ground the grain into flour. Then they start the whole process all over again. Farm equitment has grown since the Middle Ages, but we still think they're efective such as the windmill and the three field system and you can't forget the scythe. Of course the lawn mower is much more effective than the scythe, but the lawn mower can't cut tall grass and the scythe can cut tall grass, but it's back breaking work.Yes, the farm equitment has grown greatly and will never stop growing and making it more efficient.
