Administrators’ Message

Welcome to Bull Run Elementary School!  At Bull Run, we have many programs designed to meet the needs of all learners.  Our staff works hard to enrich the curriculum, support students through appropriate challenges, work collaboratively to maximize success, and partner with parents to create a positive school culture and ensure the well-being of our students.

We are committed to ensuring that your children have a safe and positive school environment.  We set high expectations, and we have supports in place to ensure that all children reach their potential.  We will always work hard to help your children develop 21st century skills – creativity, communication, collaboration, and critical thinking.  We are committed to helping all children discover their passions and realize the possibilities that are before them.  We will ensure that our staff stays current in the art and science of teaching and that the relationships between your children and their teachers are strong and positive.  We are dedicated to creating a school climate that cultivates growth!

We appreciate all that you do at home to develop your children’s academic, social, and emotional growth.  Your support is essential, and we thank you for partnering with us to strengthen the home-school connection.  We are looking forward to a successful year at Bull Run as we endeavor to meet the needs of all students and help each of them meet their limitless potential. Go, Bulls!

Mrs. Brown became the principal of Bull Run ES in 2011.  She began her career in FCPS in 1985 after graduating from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.  As a classroom teacher for sixteen years, she taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades.  She was an inaugural member of Bull Run ES in 1999, teaching 5th and 6th grade.  After earning her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction: Concentration in Instructional Technology, she served as a technology resource teacher and instructional coach at Providence Elementary.  She later earned her K-12 Administration & Supervision endorsement from George Mason University and was the assistant principal at Fairview Elementary and Providence Elementary.  Mrs. Brown enjoys spending time with her family and friends, reading, cycling, and traveling as often as possible.  If you've ever been in her office, you will also see that she is a collector … of giraffes, in particular.  Mrs. Brown is excited to be back at Bull Run, leading the school community and continuing the work she began back in 1999.  Her number one priority is to nurture a school culture where the school staff and community help all students discover their talents, their passions, and their true potential.

Mrs.Fallen has been an educator with Fairfax County Public Schools since August 1997.  Prior to working with Fairfax County, she taught in Oklahoma (Transitional First Grade), Kansas (Assistant Reading Teacher), and Germany (Business Education and Basic Reading and Math Skills).  She began her teaching career with FCPS as a sixth grade teacher at Kings Glen Elementary in Springfield. The following year she helped to open Fort Belvoir Elementary—one of the largest elementary schools in the state in 1998.  She continued to teach sixth grade until she moved to the primary level to work with second grade students from 2001 – 2003.  While at Fort Belvoir, Mrs. Fallen worked as a Reading Specialist from 2003 until 2009. In the fall of 2009, she was selected as an Administrative Intern as part of the LEAD Fairfax Cohort. Mrs. Fallen was assigned to Brookfield Elementary School as an administrative intern. The following year she was selected as an assistant principal at Bull Run.  Mrs. Fallen brings a plethora of education, experiences, a “can do attitude” and a great deal of passion to the Bull Run Family. She holds the following degrees and endorsements:  Bachelor of Science - Business Education (VA Tech), Elementary Education Endorsement (Cameron University--Lawton, OK), Master of Arts - Education w/Reading Endorsement (VA Tech) and Ed.S Degree - Education Leadership and Policy Studies (VA Tech).

Miss Farmer began her career in Fairfax County Public Schools in 2000 after graduating from Randolph-Macon Woman’s College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and certification in Elementary Education. As a classroom teacher for over 8 years, she taught 2nd, 5th, and 6th grades.  She completed her Master’s degree in Initiatives in Educational Transformation from George Mason University, and one year later earned her K-12 Administration and Supervision endorsement from The University of Virginia. She was most recently an assistant principal at Laurel Ridge Elementary. In her free time, Miss Farmer enjoys gardening, spending time with her family and friends, hiking the trails at Manassas Battlefield, and reading great books.  She is very excited to become a member of the Bull Run Elementary School community!
