        Introduction

There are many different specialists at Bucknell Elementary School.  They work in unison with the classroom teachers to help provide a comprehensive and unique learning environment for all students.

        SPED-Special Education

Ms. Lisa Maupins, Ms. Amy Balas, and Ms. Doris Powell help to insure that our students receive the individual attention they need.  Their smiling faces and warm hugs, brighten the faces of even the most frustrated student.

SUM - Step Up to Math

Ms. Laura Adler and Ms. Tammy Dennison work hard to ensure each child receives exciting and innovative math instruction.  Together with the classroom teachers, they plan lessons, which inspire Bucknell students to think and decipher problems on their own.

One tour around Bucknell School and a visitor is sure to recognize what a diverse community we are. Consequently, we now have two full-time ESOL instructors, Ms. Khalisha Wiggs and Ms. Wanda Thomas.  With our ESOL student population reaching 47% this year, they are kept extremely busy.

          READING SPECIALISTS

The moment you step through the doors of Bucknell you know we are serious about reading. Whether it's students reading in the foyer before school or heading to their tutoring, Bucknell Elementary School is focused on literacy.  Mrs. Peggy Burkholder (SULA) and Ms. Hilary Kissel work along with all staff members, to see that each child receives proper, developmentally appropriate instruction.

GT -Gifted and Talented Program

Ms. Carrie Read is Bucknell's gifted and talented teacher. This program is designed to help children develop their creative and critical thinking abilities. At the upper level, it consists of a pull-out program as well as thinking strategy lessons taught by the classroom teacher. The primary students receive "differentiated" services as needed and "response' lessons in the classroom.
