Technology at Bucknell Elementary is used by all-students, teachers, administrators, and other staff. All
teachers and specialists have been given a laptop each through the Fairfax County
Public Schools Elementary Laptop Initiative. These laptops serve as the
teachers' workstations, demonstration equipment, and they
can take it home for continued use for instructional planning and professional development.
Bucknell has a laptop computer lab that is used
by the teachers and the School Based Technology Specialist
for a variety of instructional technology integration lessons. Also there are 2 mobile laptop
labs with 16 laptop computers each.
Many networked printers/copiers/scanners are conveniently
located throughout the building including Color and Black and White LaserJets) for the staff and students to
print to.
Each K-6 classroom at Bucknell has an interactive whiteboard (SmartBoard)
to integrate technology and enhance the lessons. This has been
a real motivator for both teachers and students. There are 2 LearnStar (mobile) stations, each with 20 keypads. This
is mainly used for SOL test review and practice.
The Headstart, Kindergarten, and 1st grade classrooms each
have 3 Waterford
stations-an Early Reading program that is customized for each students'
ability and need.
Special Math and ESOL software are used on a daily basis for different groups of students for effective instruction and intervention.
Additionally, each classroom has at least 6 laptop student stations for inrevention and enrichment purposes and teachers use them all day.
