| Mr. Grear, general music teacher, can be counted on to be involved in all events at Bucknell. | New to our faculty we welcome Ms. Phaedra Long , our Strings Teacher. |
Mr. Christian Donlon is not new to teaching, but new to Bucknell. He is excited and working hard to continue Bucknell Elementary's strong band tradition. |
Bucknell follows the Fairfax County Program of Studies to musically educate our children. The areas we concentrate on are singing, music reading, movement, listening and improvisation. We encourage all our students to become deeply involved and give all of them opportunities to showplace their talents.
Mr. Ellery Grear is Bucknell's "Sound Man." He was instrumental in composing Bucknell's school song that follows:
Bucknell School is number
one
We learn a lot and have some fun!!!
All the students here are cool.
We learn to follow every rule.
We are better than all the rest,
All the way to the open west.
We work so hard, we try and try,
We will succeed and that's no lie.
We are eager beavers, confident achievers.
Bucky Bulldog tough and
We got the stuff that we need to succeed.
We wear the blue and white and
We're full of Bulldog might
B-U-C-K-N-E-L-L
We are the best -- Go Bucknell!!!
Ms. Donlon has been instrumental in assembling a very entertaining and talented group of band students. He was responsible for inviting the West Potomac Marching Band to our school. We thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment which went a long way in encouraging students to sign up to learn an instrument and join in the fun.
