Our SUM teacher, Mrs. Laura Adler and Math Tesource Teacher, Tammy Dennison

Bucknell is so lucky to have an excellent Step Up Math (SUM) teacher. Mrs. Adler works with classroom teachers and students during math periods. She plans lessons and schedule time with the classroom teachers helping with whole or small group instruction.

SUM is a Title I program.

All grade level teachers work with Mrs. Adler in using the latest Math resources. Also the Math Resource Teachers, Linda Chestnut, and Tammy Dennison, work with teachers in helping students.

Math lessons also utilize the power of technology - many math software and Internet sites enhance and re-inforce the math concepts. Our School Based Technology Specialist, Ms. Rayman, works with Mrs. Adler in integrating technology into Math curriculum using interactive whiteboards and student laptops.

Evidence of math instruction can be seen all over the building. One might be walking down the hall and see a group of students measuring with a meter stick or a meter wheel. Another group might be mapping out various triangles with masking tape. Peek into a classroom and watch students having fun learning with manipulatives.
