Ms. June Twing
The art program at Bucknell is under the direction of a very talented teacher and artist, Mrs. June Thwing.

First Semester Art

We never outgrow the excitement for painting and during the first quarter the students at Bucknell expressed their creativity with paints.

In addition, kindergarten students studied architecture and sculpture. They then made their own school houses with playground.

First graders worked with texture rubbings and tried their hand at painting their version of the tooth fairy.

In the second grade, students also became architects and created a bird's eye view of Bucknell. They also worked with paper scraps to create foreground and background. I believe the little paper animals you see must go along with their insect unit.

Below are some examples of art from our talented students at Bucknell.

The third, fourth, fifth and sixth grades were working with drawing the human body. The third grade tried their hand at facial expressions and made self-portraits. Fourth grade did gesture drawings using body math. Body math simply means keeping the proportions of head, arms, legs, and body correct. Contour drawing of the landscape was of the chores of the fifth graders. Check out the example of a dinasaur landscape below. Sixth graders worked on frontal and profile views of themselves.

Below are some more examples of art from our talented upper-grade students.

One of the artist highlighted was Andrew Wyatt. His art can have an unsettling effect on people as is evident in his painting "Christina's World". Their are many ways in which he manipulates our emotions with his art. He also had a great sense of humor that comes out in his work.
