The last week of October has been designated as Red Ribbon Week. Enrique Camarena, a drug enforcement agent, was killed by drug traffickers in Mexico in 1985. Angered parents across the country began wearing Red Ribbons to symbolize their commitment to being healthy and drug-free. Today, red ribbon Week is nationally recognized and celebrated, helping to preserve his Special Agent Camarena's memory and furthur the cause for which he gave his life.
