LCA Offers a standards-based instructional program built on the
following key elements:
- Instructional strategies are selected or developed that
give students opportunities to learn and practice the expectations
outlined in the Virginia Standards of Learning and FCPS Program of
Studies.
- What students know and are able to do is clearly defined
before a unit of instruction begins.
- Documentation of students learning (including grades and
other evidence of performance) is provided to students and
parents.
- Students share the responsibility for monitoring their own
progress.
- Student performance on assessments is used to revise and
refine the selection of curriculum, instruction and assessment
activities.
- Instruction and assessment are adapted to accommodate students
with special needs or preferred learning styles.
Lesson plans focus on what is to be learned rather than what is
to be taught.
Students may apply for enrollment at any time (open enrollment),
and admissions take place every month. Call 703-658-6451 to schedule
