Dear Braddock Families,
We are pleased to welcome your family to the 2006-2007 school year at Braddock Elementary School. We are diligently planning for a great year. Students’ assignments to classes will be posted at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 31st. Once school begins some adjustments to classes may be necessary during the first several weeks to accommodate changes in numbers or enrollment.
You and your family are invited to attend our Open House on Thursday, August 31 between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Teachers will be in their classrooms to welcome students. We hope you will be able to attend.
The following information is provided as you plan for this school year:
· School begins on Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at 8:35 a.m. and will be dismissed at 3:10 p.m. On Mondays, school hours are from 8:35 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. We are excited to have full-day kindergarten again this year. The school hours are the same for all students in kindergarten through grade 5.
· Lunch, which includes white or chocolate milk, is available for $2.00 per day. Milk may be purchased for $.50 for one ½ pint. Breakfast will be available for $1.10. A computerized cash register system in our school cafeteria enables a student to have a personalized account with a bar-coded I.D. number to use for meals and additional purchases. Children are not allowed to buy more than one snack item at lunch. All parents are strongly encouraged to place at least $2.00 in their child’s account. This will provide a lunch in the cafeteria in the event of lost or forgotten lunch or money. During the year, deposits to the account may be made between 8:10 and 8:30 a.m. each day. The cafeteria staff will also be available during the Open House to accept deposits into accounts. A menu for the month of September will be sent home on the first day of school.
· A school folder and other important information will be sent home with each student on the first day. Please read these items carefully. The folder will contain some forms that need to be signed and returned to school by Wednesday, September 6th.
You are invited to our Back-to-School Night to learn about our school and your child’s instructional program. The date is Thursday, September 21st, at 6:45 p.m. We will meet in the cafeteria for a brief general meeting, teacher introductions, and then you will meet with your child’s teacher in the classroom.
As our year begins we will continue to focus on the strengths of the learning community at Braddock Elementary School.
