| The morning news program is broadcast each morning over closed circuit TV. A team of six 5th grade students take turns operating the camera, PA, music systems and delivering the announcements and a brief topic for the day. | Watch and listen to the Braddock Chorus sing the National Anthem at the December FCPS School Board Meeting. |

| Responsible fourth and fifth grade students are selected to serve as Braddock's safety patrols. | The student council is an executive group which can be described as the "heart and soul" of the school. All fourth and fifth grade students are part of the chorus. The classes are taught vocal warm-up exercises, sight-singing skills, and performance techniques, while learning songs which enrich their school experience. The chorus will perform several times during the year. |
Kindergarten has been studying the life cycle of the frog. Mrs. Wheat's class illustrated the life of the frog using Pixie. This requires Acrobat Reader. Use the arror keys to page through. |

| Band | We can take care of the Earth... | SOL Review |
| In Fairfax County Public Schools students are allowed to join Band in the 5th grade. At Braddock all of the 5th grade classes attend a Band demonstration assembly during the first week of school, where they are introduced to the instruments. Each student has a group lesson once a week. At the end of the year the students perform in their first concert. | Mrs. Lucas' and Mrs. Deaton's First Grade Class has some ideas how we can take care of the Earth after reading The Lorax by Dr. Suess. |

| Braddock Elementary School children in 4th and 5th grades, have the opportunity to join the strings program. The strings program offers free 45 minute lessons once a week to students interested in studying violin, viola, cello, or bass. Many students have participated in Solo/Ensemble Festival and have received Outstanding ratings.
