About Our School
Mission Statement
Belvedere Elementary School’s primary mission is to provide a positive, safe, collaborative and inclusive learning environment in which every child has the opportunity and is inspired to reach his or her full potential through developmentally appropriate experiences and best practices.
Responsive Classroom
Belvedere Elementary practices the Responsive Classroom approach to improve student achievement and foster appropriate social skills. Some of the practices which are in place are Morning Meetings, the writing of Hopes and Dreams, shared rule creation, positive teacher language, academic choice, natural consequences, modeling and teaching problem solving skills. Learn more about Responsive Classroom.
Belvedere School Rules
Each class works together to create their own classroom rules. In keeping with Responsive Classroom practices, natural consequences are used for misbehaviors and will be determined when the behavior occurs. The intention of the natural consequence is to help a child consider the results of their choices.
Belvedere School-Wide Rules are: respect yourself, respect others and respect Belvedere.
Title I Distinguished School Award
Belvedere Elementary has earned the Title I Distinguished School Award every year since 2006. The award in 2012 was given to only one elementary school in Fairfax County Public Schools: Belvedere! Read more about our award.

Opportunities to volunteer include such things as helping with classroom parties, filling Wednesday folders, running off papers for teachers, working with the PTA on special activities, assisting with our outdoor projects, and reading with children.
