Music at Beech Tree Elementary consists of three main areas: singing, playing instruments, and movement. There are many opportunities to sing at Beech Tree, including the popular 4th and 5th Grade Chorus. In addition, we have a select chorus as well as a men's ensemble. In chorus and in general music classes we learn songs from all around the world and from many different time periods. Our school is equipped with a very large Orff instrument collection, consisting of xylophones, metallophones, glockenspiels, and auxilliary percussion instruments. We spend much time in class playing these instruments, as well as, learning to play the recorder beginning in third grade. Fourth and fifth graders may also choose to play a band or strings instrument. In general music, there is a big emphasis on movement. We learn various dances and movements to understand how music and movement tie together. Most importantly, music at Beech Tree Elementary is fun, with an opportunity for every child, regardless of skill, to be successful!
Music teachers at Beech Tree are:Maryanne Tagge and Lisa Zargarpur
