The L.E.A.D. Program is a school-based mental health program for low-income, ethnic minority children, adolescents, and their families.  The L.E.A.D. Program is a service provided by the Center for Multicultural Human Services in partnership with the Fairfax County Public Schools and the Fairfax County Department of Family Services.

The mission of the L.E.A.D. Program is to decrease barriers to learning and achievement for our community’s low-income, ethnic minority and/or language minority children and adolescents.  The goals of the program are to:

  • Increase academic performance according to the child’s potential
  • Reduce absences
  • Reduce suspensions and disruptive classroom behavior
  • Improve social skills
  • Increase parents’ involvement with the school system

The L.E.A.D. Program provides a variety of services including:

  1. Individual counseling
  2. Group counseling
  3. Home visits to support parental involvement
  4. Referrals to community resources based on student and/or family needs

**For more information about the L.E.A.D. Program regarding student eligibility and the referral process, please contact the student’s guidance counselor or the L.E.A.D. site coordinator at Bailey’s.
