A Message From Principal Shane Wolfe
Many people are paying attention to Armstrong Elementary School because of the exceedingly high level of achievement as reflected by our students on a daily basis. We are also proud of our school for embracing the importance of critical thinking skills and positive character as exhibited by our students. We are fortunate to have a helpful, dedicated, culture at Armstrong because of:
Thank you for taking time to look at our Armstrong Elementary School website. As you look around the site, you will find many fun and exciting things taking place here. At Armstrong, we have a focus on providing a solid and well balanced education for all students in a safe and nurturing environment. We focus on the whole child at Armstrong with an emphasis on individualizing instruction to meet the needs of each one of the children. We keep our eye on providing a solid educational foundation for students, but we never lose sight of the emotional and social needs of our students. We value the diverse backgrounds of our families and students at Armstrong.
At Armstrong our door is always open to the community, volunteers and business partners. Our PTA is a very active part of our school culture and we could not do many of the things we do without their support. Our parent volunteers and PTA make much of what happens at Armstrong possible, including cultural activities, our annual Family Fun Night and many other exciting events. At Armstrong our parents and teachers really put the “P” and the “T” in PTA!
This year, we have partnered with Cardinal Bank to provide the school with the opportunity to have a student run bank, which we call The Eagles Nest Egg Bank. This provides our students an opportunity to learn about the benefits of saving money while practicing our communication and math skills. We always welcome the opportunity to expand our business partners further into the community. Working together, anything is possible.
If you should ever have any questions or comments please do not hesitate to contact me at Shane.Wolfe@fcps.edu or at 703-375-4800. I look forward to another wonderful year at Armstrong!

Successful learning engages the whole child in the process. Recognizing differences and utilizing numerous and varied teaching strategies creates an environment which encourages all children to grow and learn. Providing opportunities for children to collaborate, to develop critical thinking skills and to achieve high expectations prepares them for life long learning. I enjoy working with the Armstrong family and look forward to supporting all of our children and celebrating their successes.
