Physical Education Proclamation
“We the PE Specialists of Annandale Terrace ES commit to the appropriate standards of action endorsed by our local, state, and national professional organizations with regard to establishing quality, planned, purposeful, SUCCESS-ORIENTED Physical Education for ALL students, regardless of their age, gender, ability, or current level of interest.”
This pledge will assist in achieving the ultimate goal of Physical Education to improve students’ motor, cognitive, and affective development leading to a lifetime of healthy movement experiences.
Physical Education at Annandale Terrace is a necessary and integral part of each child’s total education.
“Physical Education is more than recess, more than a time to play. It’s a time for learning. Our first aim is to help children improve their movement skills. In addition to helping children become more skillful, we attempt to help them feel good about themselves as movers so that they’ll learn to feel comfortable participating in new and different activities. We try to help children experience success in Physical Education so that they’ll enjoy and participate in physical activity both at school and at home. If we give children a good foundation of skill development, cognitive understanding, and positive attitudes towards themselves in physical activity, they’ll be well on their way to becoming adults who derive the benefits of physically active and healthy lifestyles.” -- From ”Children Moving” |

- Help students understand that Physical Education is a class and a place to learn as with other subject areas.
- Show an interest in your students’ activities in Physical Education.
- Try integrating PE concepts into the subjects covered in the classroom. [Upon request, activity ideas will be provided.]
- If students must use the restroom, please provide time for them to go before coming to PE class.
- Please remind students to wear tennis shoes (no sandals, jellies, thongs, dress shoes, or boots) and comfortable clothing on their PE Days.
- Please do not allow students to miss or be late for PE class for any reason, other than illness.
