At Annandale Terrace the Language Arts program is based on a Balanced Literacy Framework.. This model involves daily reading, writing, oral language and word study. Students learn through a balance of direct instruction, guided support and independent practice.
Teachers in grades kindergarten through second have implemented the Literacy Collaborative Framework, a program developed by The Ohio State University. It is an instructional framework for language arts which is consistent with the components of Balanced Literacy throughout the school.
The Reading Teacher, Title I Reading Teacher and a trained Literacy Coordinator work with children in the classroom and provide professional development for teachers through demonstration, coaching and staff development
