Students are eligible to begin instruction on a band instrument of their choice in the 5th grade and will receive one 45 minute lesson per week during the school day. Students will be given the opportunity to learn about music by performing, creating, investigating and connecting. Throughout the course of the school year, beginning band students will learn proper instrument care, basic playing position, tone production, and fingerings. Students will be able to count, read, and write music and will perform beginning level band music at a concert at the end of the school year.
