Chris Dickens, Principal
Annandale Terrace Elementary School is a neighborhood school serving an international community. We encourage the support and involvement of families, business partners and community members as we work together to meet the unique needs of every student in an inclusive setting. Our learning environment is enriched as we celebrate our diversity and focus on our similarities. A strong Parent Teacher Association (PTA) provides new and exciting experiences for our students through field trips, assemblies, volunteer ism and after school programs. Weekly parent coffees and evening workshops give us opportunities for sharing information and true communication.

Annandale Terrace staff and families have high expectations for academic achievement. Based on school and parent reports, our staff has created a learning environment that meets the needs of each child with a strong emphasis on reading, writing and mathematics programs. We are committed to helping each child find his or her special talents and interests. Mentoring, tutoring and after school programs extend learning opportunities for students. Business partners, community members, and volunteers provide additional support for teachers and students.

Annandale Terrace has a long history of emphasizing the importance of citizenship in a learning community. Character attributes of courage, perseverance, honesty, patience, humility, faithfulness and respect are integrated into every aspect of the school day.

In partnership with George Mason University, Annandale Terrace is a Professional Development School. Student teachers and university staff enrich our learning community and provide additional support for students.

These reports compare the performance of the students in this school, school division, and the commonwealth with the achievement objectives of the federal No Child Left Behind Act of 2001. Schools and divisions that meet or exceed these objectives for achievement in reading and mathematics are considered to have made Adequate Yearly Progress toward meeting the goals of the law. The achievement data in these reports include the performance of students on SOL tests, special educational assessments, and tests taken by students of limited English proficiency.
