The Series Circuit

A series circuit is, in which the components are arranged end to end to form a single path for current.

To find the total resistance within a series circuit use the given fomula:

Rtotal = R1 + R2 , where R stands for resistance

To find the current within a series circuit use Ohm's Law:

I = V/Rtotal, where V stands for voltage and I stands for current

To find the voltage within a series circuit use Ohm's Law again:

V=IRi, where I is the current and V is the voltage

Note, that the components divide the voltage according to their resistances, so V1/V2 = R1/R2
