Students who are in math classes up to Algebra 2 Honors are able to participate in the JV Math League. The JV Math League holds six math meets during the school year, from October through March. The meets are held right after school, at 2:15 pm in the Cafeteria, and end at approximately 2:50 pm. At a JV Math meet, students come to test their mathematic skills by answering challenging mathematical questions related to their math curriculum. Students who participate in at least four of the six math meets during the year receive certificates, and many times the students' math teachers give bonus points to those who participate in the math meets. The JV Math League is a program that is organized by the Northern Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NVCTM). After each meet, the top ten students' scores are sent to NVCTM so that rankings between participating schools can be calculated. The teacher sponsor of the JV Math League is Courtney McLaughlin.
