Math Honor Society

 

The Math Honor Society (MHS) is a national organization for students who enjoy and are profecient in maths. To join the MHS students must meet the criteria listed below. Information about the service hours required to remain a member of the MHS.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Criteria

MU ALPHA THETA (MATH HONOR SOCIETY) REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION

 

  1. You must have completed Algebra I for an associate membership and have completed Geometry for a full membership.
  2. You must be currently enrolled in a math class.
  3. You must have an overall MATH G. P. A. of 3.5 or better.
  4. You must have an overall G. P. A. of 3.0 or better.
  5. You must be willing to attend 2/3 of all meetings if you are admitted.
  6. You must be willing to do a service project such as tutoring or presenting at a meeting. A minimum of 5 hours are required per semester.
  7. You must pay $10 dues, yearly.

 

Service

To maintain a membership with the MHS, students must turn in 5 service hours every semester for a total of 10 for the entire year. Service hours must be math related such as math tutoring. Please check with your teacher to make sure that your chosen activity is appropriate. You should record you service hours with the service hours form which should be handed to your teacher.

 

If you meet these requirements, and wish to join Mu Alpha Theta, please fill out an application form and return it to Mr. Evans in Room 235.

*All meetings are in the cafeteria at 2:10pm except the Induction ceremony, which is in the lecture hall at night.*
