"Gold for Gold" the A-Blast article on the MYP Ceremony

What is the IB Middle Years Program (IBMYP)?

In keeping with the IBO Mission Statement the Middle Years Program provides a rigorous learning environment that invests and engages students in the development of skills critical to their ability to compete and thrive in the 21st Century.  It is a five year program that begins in the 6th grade in our feeder schools:  Glasgow, Poe or Holmes.

IBMYP at Annandale High School strives to attain the highest rigor and standards so that students are prepared to continue into the Diploma Program, are competitive on their college applications, succeed in their higher education courses and continue to seek enriching learning experiences throughout their lives.  We believe students who develop the attributes of the Learner Profile are prepared to be successful in the 21st Century.

Students complete their final two years of the Middle Years Program at Annandale High School.  Students who have not attended one of our feeder schools still have the option to pursue certification or a Record of Achievement if they attend during their entire freshman and sophomore years.

The IBMYP is a comprehensive, in-depth course of study that provides a framework of academic rigor in the following eight content areas:

Students use five lenses through which they examine the interrelatedness of these subject areas and how they relate to the larger world.  These lenses are Human Ingenuity, Environments, Approaches to Learning, Health and Social Education and Community and Service.
