Geometric Ornament

2nd Quarter

OBJECTIVES: Create a geometric ornament. It should be 3D and illustrate 10 geometric concepts. The ornament may represent the holiday you celebrate. If you do not observe a holiday, you may create an object with a winter theme.

GUIDELINES: The object must be ready to be hung and should not exceed 5" X 5" X 5". If you make a mobile, it must have four or more objects. You may use any materials, but remember they will be hanging over your heads, so keep the ornament light in weight! Your project should be colorful and creative. A typed essay must include your ten geometric concepts along with illustrations.

EVALUATION: Your project will be graded according to the following criteria: (1) Each illustrated concept is worth 6 points each (60); (2) Appearance is 10 points; (3) Originality - 10 points; (4) Essay - 15 points (Spelling, grammar, and explanations will be checked); and (5) Evidence of time - 5 points. Total: 100 points.
