Geometry is a branch of mathematics that is particularly conducive to projects as alternative assessments. Projects are an exciting way to allow students to use their creativity and perhaps discover hidden talents. Students' finished products continue to be a source of wonder and delight! The following web pages are the handouts, with allocated points on each facet of the project, that were given to students. Please have fun with your students and relish in their achievement! |
Pictured below is one of the quilts created for this project. I wrote an article entitled "More Than I Bargained For!", which appeared in the December issue of The Kappan. The except below is taken from that article which can be found online at http://www.alphadeltakappa.org/public/index.htm. When you go to the site, in the left frame under Alpha Delta KAPPAN, choose Selected Articles from December 2000. The list of articles will appear in the frame on the right. When you click on the name of the article, "More Than I Bargained For!", the link will take you to the complete article.
