Fitness and Food

Spring Semester/ 1/2 Credit

Grade:  9-12                 

Lab Fee:  $35.00 (see note below)

 

This course introduces the student to the wonderful world of healthy living. Students will learn to prepare meals that taste good and are good for them, such as low fat brownies, whole wheat pizza and homemade chicken nuggets. Students work in kitchen groups and eat what they make in a family style setting, sharing the responsibilities of cooking and cleaning up. Students will compare dietary needs and will learn how to make healthy food choices through tout their lives.

 

 

Students completing Gourmet Foods with a “B” or better may be eligible to articulate up to 2 credits at Stratford University.

 

*Note: Lab fee is waived for free lunch students and is half-price for reduced lunch students.
