Late Paper Policy

Late and Missed Work -- No Late Work Policy

The AHS No Late Work Policy is based on FCPS, High School Teacher’s Guide: Grading and Reporting to Parents, September 1999.

Students must turn in all work on the due date set by the teacher unless the student is out due to an excused absence.  In the case of an excused absence, students may submit work one day late for each day of the absence up to ten days. After an unexcused absence, late and missed work will not receive credit.

If the student is in school on the due date for a long term, project (more than one week to complete), but does not submit the assigned work, the student has one additional day to submit the work without penalty.  If the student does not meet the revised due date, the work could received reduced or no credit.  At the end of a grading period, FCPS policy allows teachers to use their professional judgment in considering trends in student achievement.

Group Work -- No Late Work Policy

In the case of an absence on the day a group project is due, you must notify the members of the group. You may e-mail or phone the group members with the necessary information. Your materials should be made available to them. A parent or guardian should make every effort to contact the teacher or main office prior to the start of class explaining any extenuating circumstances.
