Mission

 

The Theater Without Borders allows ESOL students to perform and stage productions at Annandale High School and in the community. Started in 2003 by Leslie Chekin and Michelle Picard, the Drama Group performs dramatic works adapted to meet the needs of LEP Students.

 

Group participants perform one play per semester and often perform for the Annandale community. In this way students become involved in all aspects of play production, including performance, stage management, light and sound, and script-writing.

 

In addition to supporting students' academic progress in language and literature, the Theater Without Borders promotes an interest in the arts, problem-solving through teamwork and community service. Exposure to drama also enhances students' confidence in their abilities and strengthens self-knowledge.

 

Theatre Without Borders also welcomes students from Woodson Adult Education and Bryant Alternative HS and other Fairfax County programs.
