Information
The Band Program includes the Marching Atoms, Symphonic Band, Gold Band,
Red Band, Jazz Band and the Indoor Winter Guard.
Membership in the Annandale Band Program requires self-discipline, hard work,
sacrifice, loyalty, dedication, responsibility, and above all, interest and
desire. Individual musical growth can come through your desire, interest and
personal effort by means of purposeful practice on your instrument. Annandale
Bands have a fine tradition involving good performance standards combined with
a full musical education. This demands interest and involvement on the part
of the members.
Honor Band Information
Each year, the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association (VBODA)
makes available to every high school band the
Commonwealth
of
Virginia
Honor Band Award
. This award is given to those
schools in
Virginia
whose marching bands earn a Superior Rating at the
VBODA State Marching Band Festival in October, and also earn a Superior
Rating with their top concert band at their District Concert Band Festival in
March. This award recognizes the hard work and achievement of the band
members whose ensembles earned those Superior Ratings. The Annandale Band’s
primary goal each year is to earn this prestigious award, indicating a strong
balance of marching and concert performance for the program.
Annandale
has been fortunate to be
designated a Ten Year Virginia Honor Band and has earned 12 in total (1985,
1995, 1996, and 1999-2007) - an honor that only 17 bands in the state have
achieved. We are proud of this accomplishment, and continue to work to
maintain our place among the finest instrumental programs in the
Commonwealth.
