Suellen Novak

Suellen Novak (Merlo) graduated from Montville HS in NJ and went to Viriginia Tech where she started her passion for photography and computer graphics.  While working as the graphic designer and photographer for Virginia Tech Athletics, she received a BA in Fine Arts with a concentration in Computer Graphics, Photography and a minor in Industrial Design.  Over the summers, Suellen explore animation and video production working for Sony Pictures Animation in Los Angeles, CA and the following summer at Fox Studio Networks in Phoenix, AZ.  After working in the photography/computer graphic industry, Suellen decided to go back to Virginia Tech and get a Masters in Education specializing in architecture, engineering and computers.  She is also currently working on her second master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies at VCU.


Over the past few years, Suellen has worked at a few high schools in the area (Westfield, Oakton and Lee) and has taught many different subject areas (Computer Graphics, Photography, Animation, Architecture, Studio Art and Ceramics).  Suellen is very excited to be a part of the Annandale Atoms team and is dedicated to reaching out to each student to push them to their full potential.  In addition to teaching, Suellen is still a freelance photography/computer graphics artist and is an active artist that exhibits her work in the Washington dc metro area.


Suellen looks forward to helping out with clubs and student activities (Past: Soccer Coach, National Art Honors Society Sponsor, Art Club and Cycle Club Sponsor).  She will currently be teaching Computer Graphics and Photography at Annandale High School.


Jacqueline Pappas

Mrs. Pappas earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education K-12, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Minot State University in North Dakota. She has a Master’s of Science in Special Education K-12 in Emotional, Learning, and Severe Cognitive disabilities from the University of Colorado. She has worked intensively with Emotional Disturbed students throughout her career incorporating Art as therapy.
As a teacher, Mrs. Pappas believes that every student can learn through Art and is committed to assisting her students in reaching their full potential both as good citizens and as student artists.
As an artist, Mrs. Pappas has produced and sold paintings and watercolors. She continues to work in her studio and produce her own artwork of watercolors, sculpture, and paintings.
Mrs. Pappas joined the Annandale team in 2003 and worked until 2006. She then moved out of state and returned to Annandale again in 2011. She is currently teaching Studio Art 1, 2, 3, and 4 and Computer Graphics 1.


Meredith Stevens

An accomplished artist and photographer, Meredith Buzzell is a 1999 graduate of Annandale High School. In 2004, she graduated Cum Laude from Virginia Intermont College with a Bachelor of Arts in Photography and Digital Imaging, and a Bachelor of Arts in Art with Licensure PreK-12 and a Concentration in Ceramics. At Virginia Intermont College Meredith was a member of Alpha Chi, a National Honor Society dedicated to students in the top 10% of their class, and was selected for Who's Who among American Colleges and University's.


Meredith returned to Annandale High school in 2004 and is looking forward to a career devoted to helping students achieve their creative potential. In the pursuit of keeping up to date with the latest photographic technology, Meredith continues to develop her creative talents and enhances her teaching with the exhibition of her own photographic portfolios.


She is the sponsor of the National Art Honor Society, an honor society that promotes the arts and art education among high school students. She is the sponsor/instructor for the Annandale High School Marching Atoms Colorguard and Winter Guard
