Technology is used by all at Aldrin Elementary. Each teacher and specialist has been given a laptop through the Fairfax County Public Schools Elementary Laptop Initiative. These laptops serve as the teacher's computer workstation, computer demonstration device, and they can be taken home for use in creating lessons and for other instructional purposes.

Aldrin Elementary is also equipped with two computer labs that are used by students. Tech Lab A, located near the Art room, is a complete laptop lab consisting of 30 wireless computers. Tech Lab L, named for its proximity to the Library, has 16 wireless laptops and 11 desktop computers.

In addition to these computer labs, each classroom is equipped with computers for student use. There are also many networked LaserJet printers that are conveniently located throughout the building for staff and student use.

Each classroom also has a SMART Board and LCD projector. Putting these interactive whiteboards and projectors in all classrooms was a goal of the principal, and with the help of the PTA, this was finally realized during the 2008-2009 school year. With these, teachers create unique interactive sound-enhanced lessons and link websites, PowerPoint presentations, and Excel spreadsheets to the SMART notebook software. Documents can also be scanned into slides to help create curriculum based material. The SMART board has become a new methodology for Aldrin teachers to engage 21st Century learners in traditional educational content. Students enjoy the touch technology of the SMART Board as well.

We look to continually expand and upgrade our current technology so that Aldrin students can be engaged learners prepared to enter the workforce of the future. In the 2009-2010 school year, a digital camera lab and a class set of headphones with microphones was funded for curriculum-tech integration projects.
