Adult
Identification
All parents and visitors must sign in at
the main office and wear a badge or visitor sticker at all times
while in the building
Backpacks
Children will need a backpack or tote bag
that is large enough to carry home library books, lunch boxes
if applicable, and artwork. Please label the backpack with your
child's name.
Bibs
Please send a bib if you wish your child
to use one at lunchtime. We will send home soiled bibs to be laundered.
Birthdays
If you would like to celebrate your child's
birthday at school, please contact your child's teacher to make
arrangements.
Clothing
Children should wear play clothes since
many of our activities are messy. Shoes should be appropriate
for outdoor activities.
Please send in an extra set of clothing,
including socks, underwear, shirt and pants, or dress. Be sure
to label your child's clothing. When wet or soiled clothes
are sent home, please remember to replenish your child's supply
of extra clothes at school.
Diapers
Diapers, diaper wipes and disposable plastic
bags should be sent in for children who are not toilet trained.
Extra training pants and underwear should be sent in for those
who are being toilet trained.
Illness
Please call the preschool office (703-904-3827)
or the main office (703-904-3800) if your child is going to be
absent from school. If there is any question whether or not your
child is ill, please do not send him/her to school. If
your child has a fever or diarrhea, he/she may not attend
school. It is school policy that children be symptom free
for 24 hours before returning to school. Some of our children
are extremely susceptible to illness, and we would like to keep
exposure to a minimum. If your child becomes ill during the class
day, the teacher or clinic aide will call you immediately. If
you cannot be reached, the people listed on your Emergency Care
Card will be called. Please keep your Emergency Care Card up to
date.
Lunch
The A.M. Classes eat lunch Tuesday thru
Friday; lunch is not served on Mondays to the A.M. classes. The
P.M. Classes and the PAC Classes eat lunch Monday thru Friday.
Your child may bring his/her own lunch or purchase a school lunch.
Your child may purchase milk only as well. The cost of a complete
lunch including milk is $2.15. The price of white and chocolate
milk is $.50. Soy milk ($0.75) and juice ($0.65) are only available
for children with a milk intolerance/allergy and a doctor's note
must be on file. Lunch tickets may be purchased for several lunches
at a time by sending a check for the exact amount. The
checks should be made out to Buzz Aldrin Food Services.

15 tickets $32.25
20 tickets $43.00
25 tickets $53.75
30 tickets $64.50
Fairfax County School Regulations do not
permit us to have microwave ovens in our classrooms. We will not
be able to heat your child's food at school.
Notebooks
Send in a notebook (composition or spiral).
This notebook will be used to send notes between home and school.
Snacks
There will be a $5.00 monthly charge for
snacks. If you would like to pay for the entire school year, the
cost is $45.00 or $22.50 each semester. This covers special meals
prepared by the children, as well as juice and snack. Snack checks
must be separate from lunch checks. The check should be made out
to: Buzz Aldrin Elementary School.
If your child has food allergies, please
contact your child's teacher regarding participation in the snack
fund.
If your child is in the PAC class,
please contact the teacher regarding snacks.
Tissues
Please send in large boxes of tissues
Transportation
The Transportation Office has requested
that parents not call them directly. If you have
any questions or concerns regarding transportation, or need to
make any changes in the pick-up or drop-off location, please notify
your childs teacher. The preschool staff will then contact
transportation
It generally takes 3-5 days to make changes
in the pick-up or drop-off location.
Note: Please don't forget to label all your childs belongings!
